We know that Gethsemane is a welcoming community that loves God, and loves people – and where we affirm the dignity of all of our LGBTQIA+ siblings … but as Pr. Dave Daubert reminded us at the recent workshop, those outside our community won’t know what Gethsemane is like unless we tell them and show them. Lots of people don’t know there is such a thing as churches where they would be truly welcomed as they are … and they certainly don’t know we’re one of them. Let’s get out and show Columbus that “THERE IS A PLACE FOR YOU HERE” – and we march with other ELCA congregations that are also Reconciling in Christ (RIC) who also celebrate affirming all people. This is a wonderful activity for families to do together – and we’ve had infants in strollers and grandparents in our group in past years! Sign up to march in the parade at the Welcome Center in the Narthex. We’d love for everyone marching to wear one of the shirts that says “Evangelical Lutheran Church in America” on the front and “There is a place for you here” on the back (in any color) – and you can wear one from previous years or buy one from https://epiphanypickerington.secondslide.io/products/PRIDE/pride — Contact Ben Buss at bbuss@gethsemane.org if you have questions.
